The opportunity a man gets to perform any kind of devotional seva, which can be availed only in the human form, is very rare and eminent in today’s world. Just this opportunity does not suffice, but this mustthen be utilized by performing seva (Nishkaama karma)according to the rules and regulations (Vidhi Nishedha) as prescribed in the shastras, with the proper knowledge (knowing that I am the servant of the Lord eternally) and surrendered attitude; unmotivated(ahaituki) and uninterrupted(avyavahita) to attain the ultimate goal of life.
As Krishna says in the Bhagavad-Gita Chapter 2.40, “svalpam apyasya dharmasya traayate mahato bhayaat”if one even merely performs spiritual activities with Nishkaama karma mindset he would be protected from the greatest danger. Here the mindset is extremely important and is emphasized by Lord Krishna again and again in the Bhagavad-Gita; Mind can be our best friend or our worst enemy Bhagavad-Gita Chapter 6.6“bandhur ātmātmanas tasya”
Today’s generation being bombarded with material subjects taught in schools are moving away from gaining the real knowledge of understanding who we really are, our actual constitutional position in this existence and our relationship to the Lord.
When a human being is born he involuntarily is imposed and entitled with obligations(Rna) to three groups -Deva, Pitr (ancestors) and Acharyas (Gurus). Just like how we have the faith that when we close our eyes we can’t see anything that is in front of us or when we step on the ground we know it will bear our weight, similarly we need to have the same faith in the Vedic scriptures that it will protect us and guide us to the perfect destination. Understanding God through the Vedic scriptures is the only way to attain eternal happiness or Moksha. As long as we have doubts we will not be able to progress in spiritual path.
Being born in the lineage of the Likuchakula (Pejathaya), my family is even more obligated, firstlyLikuchakula Trivikrama Pandithacharya andhis son Narayana Pandithacharya are our distant ancestors (hiriaru) and secondly their teachings regarding our Guru Madhwacharya and Lord Shri Krishna entitles us to Acharya Rna.
The commitment and dedication of the Pandithacharyas to the teachings of Sriman Madhwacharya and surrender attitude to Guru and Lord is very evident from their compositions of Ushaharana, Parijathaharana, Shubhodaya, Vayustuti, Sangraha Ramayana, Madhwavijaya, Krishnamaala, Manimanjari, Narasimha Stuti, Shiva Stuti and many more.In addition to this, their literary works shows their scholarship in the Vedic knowledge, command in Sanskrit language and philosophical poetry skills. On one hand they have composed smaller ashtakaslike Ramagithyastaka andon the other hand commentaries on thecomplex Brahma sutra, which shows the depth of their knowledge and their reach span from kids to advanced bhaktas with the eagerness to spread the message of Shri Madhwacharya and Lord Narayana.Narayana Pandithacharya in his Madhwavijaya has combined history, philosophy and literature all in one epic which is uncanny. As mentioned in the Madhwavijaya Sarga 15, the two vowsofLikuchakulaPandithacharyas were1. their commitment to lead life abiding toMadhwacharya’s instructions 2. their commitment in spreading this knowledge to the sathvik souls (jivas). The introduction section in this book provides some information gathered by scholars on both the Pandithacharyas.
